Antelope Canyon Wall
Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona is a world attraction. The canyon is divided into upper and lower sections, and both offer countless photographic opportunities as the sun’s rays enter the narrow slit openings above. The Sandstone walls are carved and polished by years of water pushing through the rock channels.
As you can imagine, and on the negative side, the slots are not a place you want to be when the water passes through. Lower Antelope especially can be treacherous after rainstorms that have occurred miles away, channel water down the wash and into the slots. There have been improvements made, including drop ladders for emergency egress and sirens to alert of impending danger, but it is always a good idea to closely follow the weather before entering either of these slots, or the numerous others located on the Colorado Plateau.
